The Mets announced a series of roster moves on Thursday, highlighted by DHJ.D. Martinez returning from the paternity list.

To make room on the active roster, outfielder DJ Stewart was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

Additionally, the Mets have claimed outfielder Jose Azocar off waivers from the San Diego Padres and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse, while reliever Sean Reid-Foley was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day IL (right shoulder impingement).

Martinez missed the three-game series against the Boston Red Sox, but the Mets took care of business even without one of their top hitters, sweeping the Sox in three games. In 105 games this season, Martinez is slashing .252/.336/.441 with 16 home runs and 65 RBI.

Stewart has slashed just .175/.326/.299 with five homers and 19 RBI in 72 games with the Mets this season.

Azocar, 28, has appeared in 61 games for the Padres this season, hitting two home runs with five RBI and 13 runs scored.

Reid-Foley was originally placed on the IL in June, and he suffered a setback after making six rehab appearances, with manager Carlos Mendoza announcing that the righty was shut down due to the ball not coming out the way that Reid-Foley would like.
