Exclusive: 3 summer targets Hull City will be disappointed they missed out on

Hull City had a busy transfer window with plenty of incomings and outgoings at the MKM Stadium.

Hull City saw key players like Jaden Philogene, Ozan Tufan, Jacob Greaves and Jean Michael Seri head out the exit door. Meanwhile, important loanees like Fabio Carvalho, Liam Delap and Tyler Morton all went back to their parent clubs.

The Tigers ended up bringing in Charlie Hughes, Gustavo Puerta, Oscar Zambrano, Liam Millar and Chris Bedia, among others, as they freshened up their ranks.

Former Stuttgart and Hamburg boss Tim Walter was appointed as Liam Rosenior’s replacement and the German is yet to win. He has picked up three points from his first four league fixtures and his side were beaten 2-0 away at Leeds United at Elland Road last time out.

Here is a look at the summer targets who Hull City will be disappointed that they weren’t able to sign in the end…

Kieffer Moore

Hull City lack depth up front and Kieffer Moore would have been ideal for them. He turned down a switch to East Yorkshire from AFC Bournemouth in a favour of a move to league rivals Sheffield United.

The experienced attacker would have given Walter another player to pick from in attack and something different. The Tigers’ only senior options in his position right now are Bedia and Mason Burstow and they could have done with bringing in one more before the deadline.

Brandon Thomas-Asante

Just like Moore, Brandon Thomas-Asante looked on his way to the MKM Stadium from West Brom before Coventry City hijacked the deal. He was the Baggies’ top scorer over the last two campaigns and would have boosted Hull City’s striking department.

However, it wasn’t meant to be and he decided to reject them and transfer to the Coventry Building Society Arena instead. He has also played for Salford City in League Two in the past.

Jonas Meffert

The Tigers wanted to sign the 29-year-old from Hamburg but nothing materialised in the end. He has played with Walter before and understands his style of play.

Hull City lack experience in the middle of the park following Seri’s exit to Saudi Arabia and the German would have been perfect for them. Puerta and Zambrano are very young, as is Xavier Simons, and you worry that their lack of know-how in that area could be exploited by the better teams of the division.
