FOOTBALLDinamo Zagreb midfielder Martin Baturina turns down chance to join Leeds United

Leeds United have tabled a £25.5 million bid for Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Martin Baturina, and it has been accepted by the Croatian Football League club, according to Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti.

However, the 21-year-old turned down the move as he believes a move to the Elland Road club is not the best for him right now

Baturina is also on the radar of Serie A club Fiorentina, and they are willing to make him the second-highest paid player in the club behind only Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea.

However, he also turned them down as he wants to continue his development with his childhood club.

Leeds were rejected by Josko Gvardiol a few years ago for the same reason, with the Croatian defender also opting to remain with Dinamo Zagreb despite a lucrative offer from the Whites.

Whether the west Yorkshire club actually submitted an offer of £25m for a youngster yet to prove himself in a big league remains to be verified, and the report from Croatia could be an attempt from the club to drive Fiorentina into improving their offer.

Leeds are indeed looking to strengthen in attacking midfield as they push for Premier League promotion again, and the talented Baturina fits the bill, but not for that fee.

Manager Daniel Farke has added Ao Tanaka, Alex Cairns, Joe Rothwell, Manor Solomon, Largie Ramazani, Joe Rondon and Jayden Bogle to his squad so far, and it remains to be seen if further arrivals will be coming in the few hours left in the summer transfer window.

Leeds are reportedly likely to miss out on SC Freiburg forward Rolland Sallai, and they could be done with transfer business this year.

The Whites will decide where they need further reinforcements in January ahead of the second half of the Championship campaign, but the fans will keep waiting until 11 pm to see whether any new signings will arrive.

Leeds ‘Stepping Up Efforts’ to Sign Bachir Belloumi.

Leeds United are preparing an offer worth €6 million to sign winger Bachir Belloumi from Portuguese side Farense, according to Algerian outlet Maghrebactu.

Belloumi, who netted seven goals and provided four assists in the Primeira Liga last season, is also a target for Marseille and Club Brugge. However, the Whites have emerged as frontrunners to land the emerging talent’s services, as Daniel Farke eyes one more offensive addition to bolster his forward-line.

The Yorkshire club have completed the signing of midfielder Ao Tanaka from Fortuna Dusseldorf for £3.4 million, and are expected to acquire defender Isaac Schmidt from St. Gallen, in a busy deadline day at Elland Road.
