Hull City- seal attacker transfer from Championship rivals on deadline day

The Tigers have moved to bring in the former Chelsea youngster

Hull City have completed their second signing of a busy deadline day with the capture of Kasey Palmer from Championship rivals Coventry City.

Palmer arrives to bolster City’s attacking ranks in the top third of the pitch and provide significant Championship experience with the 27-year-old just two games shy of two hundred in the second tier for a host of clubs, penning a three-year contract with the option of a fourth with City paying an undisclosed fee to the Sky Blues.

The Jamaica international, who scored the equalising goal for Coventry late on at Bristol City last weekend in what proved to be his final outing, has penned a three-year deal in East Yorkshire, his eighth club since joining Chelsea’s academy from Charlton in 2013.

Palmer follows Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth in signing on deadline day with the Tigers hoping there will be further additions before the 11pm deadline, including Abu Kamara from Norwich City.

The MKM Stadium will be the latest stop on Palmer’s journey which has seen him take in the likes of Huddersfield Town, Derby County, Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City, Swansea City and then Coventry, before adding the Tigers to his CV.

Born in Lewisham, Palmer came through the ranks at Charlton before moving across London to Chelsea and represented England from Under-17 level through to Under-21 where he played in the 2016 Toulon-winning side, before opting to play senior football for Jamaica in 2021, making his debut against the USA.

It’s understood there’s a belief that Palmer’s deal was done and registered in time to feature in Tim Walter’s squad for Saturday’s Yorkshire derby at Leeds United.

It is believed he will be checked over with a view to completing a season-long loan move to Staffordshire.

Cannon was at the centre of transfer speculation last summer, when he was on the fringes of Everton’s senior set-up. He had shown his Championship credentials with an impressive loan stint at Preston North and attracted plenty of interest.

Leicester secured his services on a permanent basis but his maiden Foxes campaign was derailed by injury.
