Jean Michael Seri’s- Hull City future now decided after transfer talks

The MKM Stadium cult hero is on his way out after two years in East Yorkshire

Jean Michael Seri is closing in on his exit from Hull City after two years at the MKM Stadium, as he nears a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The 33-year-old has barely featured for City under Tim Walter and was an unused substitute at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday having missed the opening weekend draw with Bristol City.

Though he came off the bench at half-time in the Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last week, Seri’s opportunities in the Championship look slim, and as Hull Live have reported throughout the summer, the former Fulham midfielder had been attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

That interest has finally turned into a concrete offer now with Pro League club Al-Orobah set to sign him on a free transfer after Seri made it clear it was an opportunity he’d like to pursue, and the club granted his wish.

Seri was arguably Acun Ilicali’s marquee signing two years ago, his first summer since taking control of the club, and has played 77 times for City, scoring twice and collecting six assists.

Last term, Seri played a pivotal role under Liam Rosenior, playing 39 times in the Championship having developed his game to press higher, a development which drew praise from his former boss.

Under Walter, however, Seri’s opportunities have been significantly less with the German preferring to deploy Xavier Simons in the deep-lying midfield role. City have also added Fin Burns and Oscar Zambrano this summer, though there remains doubt over the outcome of his pending case with the Ecuador FA, while they’re trying to do a deal with Blackburn Rovers for skipper Lewis Travis and are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen over signing Gustavo Puerta which would significantly beef up their midfield options.

Walter said recently that he valued Seri, but understood if the player wanted to leave and pursue a different opportunity, something Seri has been keen to do.

Canadian star Liam Millar gives glimpse into Hull City transfer deal

The exciting winger has impressed in his early displays for the Tigers

Liam Millar has given a fascinating insight into his move from Swiss outfit Basel to Hull City which was finally completed ahead of the Tigers’ Championship opener almost two weeks ago.

The Canadian ace penned a three-year deal at the MKM Stadium after City spent much of the summer trying to bring the 24-year-old winger to East Yorkshire.

Tigers boss Tim Walter and vice-chairman Tan Kesler both met with Millar in a bid to convince him a move to City was the next step in his career, with the club capable of fulfilling his dreams of making it to the Premier League, having had a taste of it when he played for Liverpool’s academy earlier in his career.

Millar made his first league start for City at Plymouth on Saturday and teed up Lewie Coyle’s sensational equalising goal, as he continues to settle into life at the MKM Stadium, and working under Walter.

“I did have interest from them last year as well, but after Copa America, I got a call saying that they really wanted to do it,” he told Hull Live.
