Tim Walter- explains Chris Bedia transfer signing from Union Berlin and squad number taken

Hull City head coach Tim Walter explains Chris Bedia transfer signing from Union Berlin

The Tigers have added firepower to their attacking arsenal ahead of the weekend

Tim Walter has backed striker Chris Bedia to be a success at Hull City after the big frontman signed for the Championship club on loan from Bundesliga side Union Berlin, with the option to make it permanent next summer.

The Ivory Coast frontman became City’s tenth signing of what has turned out to be a busy summer at the MKM Stadium and is expected to be in the squad to face Millwall at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

Bedia joined Berlin in January after bagging 10 goals in the Swiss Super League, form which attracted Premier League interest in the 28-year-old from Premier League Wolverhampton Wanderers, but he ended up going to the Bundesliga, but the move to the German capital has so far not worked out, and he arrives in England looking to regain his goalscoring touch.

Restricted to just seven appearances off the bench in the second half of last season, Bedia managed just one goal in those appearances but will arrive at City looking to score the goals Walter’s side have struggled to find throughout pre-season and in the early part of the new campaign.

“For his height, for sure,” Walter told Hull Live. “He’s a tall boy. He’s big-sized (good in the air), he’s very good with the left and those are what we think are his key attributes, and that’s what we need, especially in front of goal to have another striker who has experience. He has a good pace, so it’s good to have him and the rest we will see.

“He didn’t play that much in the German Bundesliga when he went there on loan, but I think he can adapt so that’s good for us, especially if you have such a body, you can adapt, so it’s good to have him.”

Hull City have signed striker Chris Bedia from German Bundesliga side Union Berlin on loan for the duration of the 2024/25 season with the frontman expected to go straight into Tim Walter’s squad for Saturday’s home game with Millwall.

City have snapped up the Ivory Coast forward after being alerted to his availability earlier this month, and have moved quickly to bring the 28-year-old to East Yorkshire, the deal also includes the option to make it permanent next summer.

Bedia will bolster Walter’s attacking ranks and his arrival will come as a big boost to the German head coach, having seen his side struggle to find the back of the net throughout pre-season and in the opening days of the new campaign.
