Discovery Channel is pausing production on the next season of long-running series Naked and Afraid XL. The Naked and Afraid spinoff is currently airing its tenth season on the cable network but the company said that it is taking a beat before moving into production on season 11.

“We have paused production on the next season of Naked and Afraid XL for a creative refresh with plans to shoot later this year,” a Discovery spokeswoman told Deadline.

Discovery Channel has announced a temporary halt in the production of its popular reality series, Naked & Afraid XL, for what the network describes as a “creative refresh.” This decision comes as part of a strategic move to revitalize the show and enhance its appeal to viewers.

Naked & Afraid XL, a spin-off of the original Naked & Afraid series, has captivated audiences with its intense survival challenges, featuring a group of experienced

survivalists left in extreme conditions without food, water, or clothing. The series has garnered a strong following for its unique premise and the dramatic trials faced by its participants.

According to Discovery, the pause in production will allow the show’s creators to re-evaluate its format, storyline, and overall presentation. The network aims to inject fresh elements into the series to better engage its audience and introduce new dynamics to the challenges faced by the participants. This move reflects a broader trend within the industry, where networks periodically refresh popular shows to maintain viewer interest and stay competitive in the evolving entertainment landscape.

The announcement has generated significant buzz among fans, who have expressed their anticipation for the revamped version of the show. While the exact timeline for the production resumption has not been disclosed, Discovery assures viewers that the changes will enhance the series without compromising the core elements that have made it a success.

As Naked & Afraid XL takes a brief hiatus, the network and production team are focusing on ensuring that the creative overhaul meets the expectations of both the dedicated fanbase and potential new viewers. Fans can look forward to seeing how the refreshed series will continue to push the boundaries of survival television when it returns.
