Hull City- reach agreement with player – Transfer hurdle cleared, club talks ongoing

Hull City have an agreement in place with Bayer Leverkusen’s Gustavo Puerta, but are yet to agree with the Germans.

That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who report that Hull have cleared one hurdle in their pursuit of the central midfielder.

They report that the Championship side have taken the first step towards signing the 21-year-old, with him now agreeing to make the move to Hull.

The two parties have reached an agreement on personal terms and now hope to make further progress in negotiations with the German champions. There is no information on the deal Puerta has agreed at this moment in time.
There is still no ‘absolute clarity’ between the clubs on the potential transfer. A final decision has not yet been made on the ‘model’ of the transfer. In other words, the two clubs are yet to decide if Puerta will move permanently or on loan.

Both are still possible, and talks are in ‘full swing’. A solution had been expected to arrive last weekend but that did not happen.

Hull City now have an agreement with the player, though, so can fully turn their attention to finding an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen.

Hull City target Gustavo Puerta has ‘agreed’ to join the Tigers from Bayer Leverkusen and the two parties will now continue negotiations, according to a report by FussballTransfers.
Hull City are keen to lure the Bundesliga winner to the MKM Stadium before the end of the transfer window. Fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday have also been credited with an interest, as per journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.

Puerta, 21, is facing an uncertain future at Bayer Leverkusen right now and has until the deadline next Friday to find a new club if he is to leave. He was part of their side who won the German title last term under Xabi Alonso ahead of Bayern Munich.

In this latest update regarding the future of the Colombia youth international, FussballTransfers claim he is willing to move to East Yorkshire. It remains to be seen whether the potential move would be a permanent deal or a loan at this stage.

Hull City eye midfielder
Hull City are expected to be busy between now and the deadline next week. They finished 7th in the table last term and were three points off the play-offs.

They could see Puerta as someone to bolster their options in the middle of the park.

Tim Walter’s side have been patient with their recruitment this summer but are starting to get the ball rolling properly now.

Puerta started his career in his native country with spells at Talentos Gustavo Victoria and Supercampeones before joining Bogota in 2021.

He went on to make 35 appearances in all competitions as a teenager before moving over to Europe in 2022.

The prospect was snapped up by Leverkusen and was loaned out to FC Nurnberg during his first year but didn’t play for the Bundesliga.2 outfit.

Puerta played 10 times last season for his current club as they won the league against the odds under Alonso.

What next for Hull City target?

Hull City are reportedly hoping to sign the player ahead of Sheffield Wednesday.

The Tigers have delved into the market over recent times to bring in the likes of Charlie Hughes, Oscar Zambrano, Mason Burstow and Anthony Racioppi as they hunt for further additions.

Walter’s side are back in action this weekend with a home clash against Millwall.
