Brad Pitt’s upcoming F1 movie is consulting Lewis Hamilton, but the seven-time world champion has had to criticize several scenes for being very implausible.When contacted on certain elements of the impending Formula One movie, Lewis Hamilton was granted permission to refer to “bulls***”. The Hollywood icon Brad Pitt will play an F1 driver hoping to make a big statement upon his comeback in the feature film that is now in production. Hamilton, who has many relationships in the film business, is being contacted to make sure the movie stays realistic.With nearly two decades of experience in the sport, the Mercedes driver has multiple records. He has sat down with the people writing the script and informed them that some dramatic elements, such cars flipping and landing and then going back to the race, are just too unrealistic to be included in the finished product.In an interview with Esquire, he discussed his role, saying, “Ehren [Kruger, the screenwriter] basically went out and wrote up a script after doing a ton of research and watching a lot of races. However, we would sit and discuss the nature of racing.”After he finished writing the script, I would sit down with him and basically call bullshit on the parts that don’t seem real or true to Formula One in an effort to make sure it’s as accurate as possible. I also founded a production firm at the same time, so I work as a producer alongside these folks. I’ve had the opportunity to participate in every aspect, including ensuring that the cast is diverse and that there is a woman at a pit stop—something we’ve never, ever had at the real track. We have Hans Zimmer because he is the composer I wanted to do the [music for the] film. Joe has done an incredible job of involving me in everything.”Hamilton responded, “It would just be racing scenarios,” when asked specifically what he would call out in the script. Technical speak was used by engineers.Specifically, the racing circumstances, the sequences between overtakes and pit stops, the strategies, and everything of that like. It’s possible that there was a collision in which the vehicle hit the wall, flipped, landed on its wheels, and continued moving—something that never occurs in Formula 1. Pitt’s primary character, Sonny Hayes, will compete for the made-up team APXGP. Joseph Kosinski, the filmmaker of Top Gun: Maverick, is directing the movie. Jerry Bruckheimer, who previously collaborated with Kosinski as a producer, is producing it. In the recently released teaser trailer, a number of drivers, including Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, are visible. Former Haas team principal Gunther Steiner also makes a brief appearance.
