Report: Leeds United- Now want to sign an attacker who is just as fast as Dan James

Leeds United need to have a busy final two weeks of the transfer window.

The Whites have lost some of their most important players in recent weeks, and they haven’t replaced them yet.

Crysencio Summerville has gone to West Ham, while Georginio Rutter is heading to Brighton.

Leeds, quite clearly need some attacking reinforcements, and a number of players have been linked.

Jonathan Rowe is someone Leeds are keen on, while Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has also been linked to Leeds.

Now, another attacking option has been linked with a move to Leeds United.

Leeds want Rabbi Matondo
According to Football Scotland, Leeds want to sign Rabbi Matondo this summer.

The 23-year-old has been at Rangers for the past two years, and he hasn’t exactly been shining over in Scotland, netting just five league goals for the Ibrox outfit.

Matondo is a Wales international, and that may well help Leeds land the winger.

Indeed, Leeds have a strong Welsh cohort at the club already made up of Joe Rodon, Dan James and Ethan Ampadu.

Matondo may not have scored tons of goals for Rangers in recent years, but there’s reason to believe he could be brilliant for Leeds.

Rabbi Matondo and Dan James could be an exciting duo
Matondo may not be the most clinical attacker, but he does have electric pace.

Matondo’s top speed has been clocked at 35.66 km/h. For context, Dan James has been clocked at 35.67 km/h, so these two are neck and neck in terms of pace.

James, as all Leeds fans will know, is absolutely rapid, and the fact that Matondo is just 0.01 km/h slower than James shows just how dangerous the Wales star’s speed is.

Leeds could have one of the most frightening duos in the Championship if they both play in the same team on opposite wings.

Leeds United position on supposed Rabbi Matondo transfer made clear following Rangers open to sale report

Leeds United are not seeking to bring Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo to Elland Road at this time, despite reports north of the border suggesting the Whites were eyeing up the Wales international.
The YEP understands Daniel Farke’s side are not in the process of making a move for 23-year-old former Manchester City youngster Matondo.

It had been claimed by footballscotland.co.uk that the winger was being tracked by Leeds with a view to pursuing his signing, but that appears not to be the case.

Matondo has experience in Europe having joined German club FC Schalke 04 in a reported €9 million transfer whilst still a teenager, before spending time on loan at Stoke City and Belgian club Cercle Brugge.

The player landed at Ibrox two summers ago and has scored six goals in 62 appearances for the Gers but is not understood to be atop Leeds’ transfer shortlist with a fortnight of the summer window remaining.

United spent time scouting potential wingers prior to Crysencio Summerville’s £25 million exit earlier this month and are expected to recruit in the wide areas before the deadline in two Fridays’ time. The Elland Road hierarchy was reminded by Farke of the need to bolster that position during his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon; the German suggesting he would still like full-back cover, a central midfielder, a Summerville replacement and reinforcements to make up for the loss of Georginio Rutter to Brighton and Hove Albion, which is expected to be announced in due course.

Leeds currently have a strong Welsh international contingent at Elland Road with club captain Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Daniel James and Charlie Crew making up around a fifth of Farke’s existing first-team squad. Matondo, though, it appears will not be joining them.
