Newcastle- now considering bid for £48,000-a-week Nottingham Forest star praised by Roy Keane

Nottingham Forest are enjoying a solid pre-season when it comes to keeping hold of their top players.

Murillo, Morgan Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi have all been linked with moves away from the City Ground.

However, as Forest gear up for a home game against Bournemouth next weekend, all three of the star players remain part of the squad.

With the transfer window open until the end of August, there is time for clubs to pounce on Forest and the club are not out of the woods just yet.

Anthony Elanga was another player who enjoyed a fine maiden campaign at Forest last term and now it seems that he’s a wanted man too

Premier League club add Nottingham Forest man to shortlist

According to Pete O’Rourke on The Inside Track podcast, Newcastle are now stepping up their efforts to sign Elanga and have ensured he remains on the shortlist.

Earlier in the summer, Forest signed Elliot Anderson from Newcastle and at the time it was claimed that the £48,000-a-week Elanga might go in the other direction.

However, the player who left the City Ground for St James’ Park was actually third-choice goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Newcastle might not be finished with Forest, however, and now fancy trying to snare the winger from Trentside.

Elanga signed for Forest last summer for a transfer fee of £15 million and in his maiden campaign he registered five goals and nine assists.

Forest won’t want to lose one of their top wingers so close to the season getting underway but Newcastle could now be prepared to make an offer.

Roy Keane is a huge fan of Elanga and when he was at United he claimed that he was capable of ‘causing all sorts of problems’ for opposition teams.

Forest can demand top valuation for Elanga

Newcastle might fancy Elanga but it doesn’t mean that Forest fancy selling one of their prized assets to them.

There is still so much more to come from Elanga and after just one year on Trentside, his stock will have risen considerably.

If Forest do decide to sell for whatever reason the club would be well within their rights to ask for around the £30 million mark.

He was electric at times last season and with 14 goal contributions at 21-years-old, there is definitely a significant amount of potential with Elanga.

Newcastle would naturally provide Elanga with an attractive proposition but it seems as though the Swede is happy at Forest and hopefully any interest can be fended off this summer.
