Six months ago, the office of California Governor Gavin Newsom recruited a well-known photographer on a $200,000 annual pay, Politico reported on Saturday. Charles Ommanney, a private investigator who has worked with celebrities like Mark Zuckerberg and former presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, was reportedly photographed this week by the governor of California while he cleared rubbish out of an abandoned homeless camp in Los Angeles. Notably, however, Newsom’s office released a video just before President Joe Biden was scheduled to debate former President Donald Trump. This was a departure from the customary State of the State address in front of a live audience, as the governor of California spoke more broadly about national issues like abortion, guns, homelessness, and climate change from a podium against a dramatic backdrop.

Politico said that the video, which included footage from Ommanney, seemed appropriate for a national viewership. The governor of California praised Biden’s performance as president during the Q&A period that followed the debate and stated that people shouldn’t disregard him because of “one performance.” With an annual salary of $200,000, Ommanney is among the top paid employees in Newsom’s office when compared to the governor, whose compensation was $234,101 last year.
