Breaking news:- Buffalo Bills sign safety Terrell Burgess, per report………….

Just one day after signing veteran safety Kareem Jackson to a one-year deal, the Buffalo Bills further bolstered their safety group by adding 25-year-old Terrell Burgess, per KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson. Rookie safety Cole Bishop was seen leaving practice walking with “his arm heavily wrapped” at the end of Tuesday’s training camp practice, though no official update was given regarding his condition.

Considering Mike Edwards — who was expected to replace Jordan Poyer’s role — is dealing with a hamstring injury and is week-to-week, Burgess is likely going to see plenty of playing time in training camp Burgess is still young and has spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders over the past four seasons — but he’s only appeared in 43 games and recorded just four starts. He is a former Utah Ute (like Bishop) and was drafted by the Rams in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. As a rookie, Burgess broke his ankle and missed 11 games. He appeared in 14 games for Washington last season, totaling 120 defensive snaps and 25 total tackles while also recording 273 special teams snaps.

Buffalo’s safety group consists of nine total players — Edwards, Bishop, Burgess, Taylor Rapp, Cam Lewis, Damar Hamlin, Dee Delaney and Kendall Williamson. It’s safe to say that the position battle throughout the rest of camp and preseason will be tight. Nonetheless, the hope is that both Edwards and Bishop can heal up quickly.

In a corresponding move to make room for Burgess, the Buffalo Bills released rookie punter Jack Browning.
