Liverpool’s summer transfer window has been quiet so far, though the Reds have seen captain Virgil van Dijk admit he will be considering his future over the coming months

Liverpool are growing frustrated with the early part of the summer transfer window, with the Reds still yet to make a senior signing.

New boss Arne Slot has been working with the squad left for him by Jurgen Klopp. But the Dutchman has seen several key men depart, including Joel Matip, and will be keen to bring in his own players.

Reds respond to Van Dijk exit hint

Liverpool are reportedly ‘relaxed’ over Virgil van Dijk, despite the captain admitting he was considering future. Speaking after the Netherlands’ exit from Euro 2024 he said: “I will think carefully this summer about what I want, at club level and as an international player.”

According to The Athletic though, those comments have not troubled bosses back at Anfield. There is said to be an acceptance that Van Dijk was understandly coy on his future following a heartbreaking exit from the tournament and a long season.

Van Dijk spoke highly of new boss Arne Slot when he was first appointed and the Reds believe the defender’s desire to lead the squad has not waned. They will now begin talks to extend his contract, in a sign they believe he wants to remain at the club.
