Paige Bueckers shuts down online troll commenting on her style

Paige Bueckers isn’t just a basketball star.

She’s also a style star, and she’s continuing to prove that point at the 2024 ESPY Awards.

The UConn basketball player, 22, walked the red carpet at the annual sports awards show wearing a look fresh off KidSuper’s runway. The athlete rocked a lilac KidSuper suit featuring one of the brand’s face doodle embroideries. She accessorized the look with white Jimmy Choo. loafers and David Yurman jewelry, plus a chic french braided updo with face framing tendrils.

Bueckers is nominated for best comeback athlete and faces Simone Biles, Joe Flacco and Zion Williamson in the category. She’ll also hit the stage to present the award for Gatorade Player of the Year during the show.

WNBA rookie star Caitlin Clark leads the pack as the athlete with the most nominations at this year’s awards show. She is nominated for best athlete, women’s sports; best record-breaking performance (for being the NCAA’s all-time scoring leader by surpassing Pete Maravich’s record) and best college athlete, women’s sports.

Bueckers has been exploring her style since she was a child (and her many fans have been paying rapt attention in the process). In an interview with Highsnobiety published July 11, she said, “My style is a mix of feminine and masculine.” She’s willing to mix it up with both body-hugging silhouettes that show some skin, as well as baggy clothes that are max comfort (but still stylish).

She shared an Instagram carousel of the fashionable shoot with the outlet on Instagram, writing in the caption, “Helloooo fashion world 👋🏼 So blessed and grateful to @HighSnobiety for this opportunity to share a little bit of my story through a new fashion statement.”

Interspersed with her basketball Instagrams are plenty of outfit shots, too, proving that Bueckers truly does love fashion. She made sure to give more than one spot on her grid to her all-white Louis Vuitton look that she wore for the 2024 WNBA Draft.

In the first carousel, she wrote, “My hype woman era,” while in the second carousel, she wrote, “Alright, one more time for the fit, flicks & GOAT @bhampton,” giving a nod to her stylist Brittany Hampton.
