With Conor Gallagher,Ange Postecoglou continues to shape his squad

Tottenham has been active in the transfer market thus far this summer, but manager Ange Postecoglou still has to complete a few moves in order to assemble his team.

Spurs have been discreetly working this summer to get ready for Ange Postecoglou’s push for Champions League qualification. With minimal controversy, the Londoners have already made great progress in reorganizing their team. Tottenham has added three new players thus far. Both Timo Werner and Lucas Bergvall are not particularly notable additions, as the former is already affiliated with the team while the latter consented to join earlier in the year.

Plans for the upcoming season are starting to take shape along with the arrival of Archie Gray. Conversely, six players have already left. Eric Dier’s departure from London was anticipated since he had already signed a mid-season loan deal to play for Bayern Munich.

Due to injury and contract disputes, Ivan Perisic also played his final game for Tottenham quite some time ago. More room has opened up in Postecoglou’s squad with the expiration of contracts for Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon. Additionally, Joe Rodon’s move to Leeds as part of the Gray trade has eliminated the necessity for another temporary move. In terms of expense at least, Tanguy Ndombele’s departure is the most well-known to date. His contract termination will lower the wage expenditure and open up a slot for an overseas loan.

Gallagher made a comment about his future during Euro 2024, saying, “I play for Chelsea right now. As I mentioned earlier, my thoughts are with England and the competition. My attention has been on England. For me at the moment, this is the most crucial thing.”

Purchasing Eze from Crystal Palace might be more difficult. Less pressure is on Palace to sell now that Michael Olise, his former attacking partner, has moved to Bayern Munich. The manager of Palace, Oliver Glasner, will want to hold onto his last standout player. However, Spurs may decide to act sooner rather than later considering Eze’s outstanding achievements at Euro 2024.

The issue of players leaving the team must also be addressed. Bryan Gil’s future at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium appears questionable, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg hasn’t yet managed to find a route out.

The case of Emerson Royal is distinct. Although AC Milan has expressed interest in him, their valuations are very different. Tottenham is willing to let their full-back go, but they want to be paid £20 million ($26 million). Milan has only made one offer thus far, for £8.4 million ($10.9 million). The interest of Borussia Dortmund might potentially hasten the process. To put it simply, work still has to be done. Compared to its bolder opponents, Tottenham has been working under the radar, which isn’t always a bad thing. However, things are anticipated to pick up steam in the upcoming days and weeks as we approach mid-summer and the beginning of preseason play.
