REPORT:Caitlin Clark Refers to One WNBA Legend as “LeBron James”

Caitlin Clark, a rookie with the Indiana Fever, has a special place in her heart for the former Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore, of all the WNBA legends that came before her. At a recent press conference, Clark mentioned that Moore was her favorite WNBA player. Given Clark’s history of rooting for the Lynx, the WNBA team that played the closest to her hometown, many people were already aware of this.

“If you would have told me that as a young kid, I would be playing in the game that [Moore’s] jersey gets retired at, it’s very full circle for me,” Clark stated. Growing up, she was my all-time favorite player, and I enjoyed watching her. She reminds me of my childhood LeBron James, I still think.”

Moore’s jersey will be retired by the Lynx on August 24 at Target Center during a pregame ceremony. That same day, Minnesota plays Clark’s Fever. Before Clark and the Hawkeyes’ final regular-season game against Ohio State in March, Moore—a four-time WNBA champion and the 2014 MVP—surprised the former Iowa standout. In that game, Clark created history by becoming the all-time NCAA scoring leader in the history of men’s or women’s major college basketball.
