Everton are leading the race for Hull City winger Jaden Philogene as they look to bolster their squad in the summer.

In a recent report, The Daily Mail stated that Everton are leading the race for Hull City winger Jaden Philogene. It has been mentioned that the Toffees are facing competition from Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Ipswich Town in the race to sign the English wide player.

Philogene’s Impressive Form In The EFL Championship
Philogene had an impressive campaign at the English club as he put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their midfield. The London-born sensation banged in 12 goals and picked up six assists in 33 appearances for Hull City last season in various competition

The 22-year-old was a positive influence at both ends of the field based on his average of 2.4 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, 0.6 clearances, 3.6 shots, 1.6 key passes and 2.7 dribbles per game in the EFL Championship. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from midfield, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 82.8% in the English second tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the English club will run out in the summer of 2026. Therefore, it would be difficult for the Toffees to get him on board for a reduced fee in this transfer period.

What Will Philogene Bring To Everton?

Philogene is a good tackler of the ball and can make the odd interception for his side at the centre of the park. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and can strike the ball with venom from long range.

The English talent has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates up top and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. We can expect him to bring more energy and dynamism to Everton boss Sean Dyche’s midfield.

At 22, Philogene has the potential to be a future star in Premier League football. Hence, it makes sense for the Toffees to go all out to bring him on board in this summer transfer period. However, it remains to be seen whether he can maintain his good form in top-flight football.

Still, the pros outweigh the cons of signing Philogene as he could prove to be a success story at Goodison Park in the long run.
