Alica Schmidt, the woman dubbed the ‘world’s sexiest athlete’, is on her way to the Olympics this month.
The track star announced that she would be heading to Paris with the German team on a video posted to her TikTok account. In the emotional video, Schmidt is seen pacing up and down on the phone and wiping tears from her eyes as she receives her fate.
The 25-year-old, once branded as the ‘world’s sexiest’ competitor by an Australian publication, captioned the short video “when you get the call that you’ve made the Olympic team”. The TikTok has now had over one million views, with fans getting a glimpse of the athletics star looking visibly shaken as she attempts to comprehend the life-changing news.

Schmidt actually qualified for this year’s Olympics while competing at the World Athletics Relays Bahamas back in May, with the recent call showcased on her TikTok appearing to be her country’s Olympic Committee officially confirming her place at the games.
The track and field ace also posted a message on Instagram this weekend clearly elated that her “dream came true” and that she will make “memories that will last a lifetime”.

Despite her joy at going to Paris, Schmidt actually qualified and travelled to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, however did not compete there and announced plans to take a “break” from the track after. She was also open about her struggles with COVID-19 and injuries during the 2021 season.
The former silver medalist is something of a social media these days star with 4.9million followers on Instagram and another 2m on TikTok. Ecstatic about her achievements at making the Paris extravaganza, she wrote on Instagram how it’s important to not “give up” on goals as well as reminding herself “to put in the work”.
Schmidt is no stranger to the hard yards though, with the runner once challenging Manchester City striker Erling Haaland to a race as well as going on record to say that hip thrusts have helped her maintain her stunning physique. Speaking to lifestyle magazine Women’s Health, Schmidt boasted about her ability when it comes to the exercise saying: “My all-time favourite – hip thrusts. I’m good at them and can lift a lot of weight.”
She also opened up about what a typical week looks like for someone training for the Olympics.

“Basically, a typical training week is extremely varied,” she said. “I do sprints, of course, but also sprint endurance, strength, and strength endurance training, tempo runs, and jumps.”
The German athlete, 25, was part of her national team that came second in the relay at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships, and third at the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships. Schmidt was also previously a fitness coach of Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, and fans will be able to see her in action at the Paris Olympics from July 26.
