Alfie May is a name most league 1 teams, especially their defences, would have heard last season due to him topping the goalscorers list with 23 goals in 43 games.

After viewing all of his goals from last year, May can be seen as a clinical poacher who is always in the right place at the right time. His composure is also something to be highlighted, whether it be taking the ball round the goalkeeper to finish into an empty goal, or slotting both close-range shots and penalties into the bottom corner. The 30 year old is viewed as a penalty-box striker with 21 out of his 23 goals being scored inside the area last season, his impressive movement helps him find time and space to get a shot away.

Alfie May’s consistency is elite at League One level and is sure to have been taken into consideration by the Birmingham City recruitment team. He has scored 20 or more goals in each of the last 3 seasons, all for teams that have not finished above 15th in the league table.

Competition

As previously mentioned, Huddersfield Town have been strongly linked with the striker after initially having a £750,000 bid accepted by Charlton. Blues have had their bid of £775,000 accepted, although we could see a bidding war between the promotion rivals for May’s signature.
