There has been a potentially huge U-turn regarding Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi’s situation. Will the Nigeria international stay at King Power Stadium? Elsewhere a prediction that a Profit and Sustainability Rules update is expected within mere days. Are the Foxes to begin the 2024/25 Premier League campaign on minus points?
While everyone enjoys the sun and a pretty thrilling Euro 2024 competition – except those ever discerning England supporters – Leicester City reportedly prepare to allow someone important to depart the club. That significant player could be Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, if reports are accurate. Let’s hope not, eh, Blue Army!?
Meanwhile there will be signings eyed on Filbert Way. As is usual in the offseason, especially with a new boss, numerous candidates are being discussed at LCFC.
The east Midlands side have supposedly been eyeing Joe Rodon for a while now; the Tottenham Hotspur defender is not wanted in north London. Consequently Leicester manager Steve Cooper, who has a positive relationship and past with the centreback, has apparently green lit a transfer.
There is also a fairly pressing contract to renew; Wilfred Ndidi’s is no longer under agreement at the King Power. The Nigerian is a fan favourite, a likeable chap and a great player at the general standard he’s been accustomed to. It wouldn’t be a disaster for the Foxes if he did leave; going for free is tougher to accept, of course.
However, keeping Ndidi is preferable in the opinion of this writer and Leicester fan. Last year, in spite of playing in the Championship, the 27-year-old showed he could evolve as a first-class footballer. Under Enzo Maresca, he was even more influential.
There were reports of interest in Ndidi from many clubs in Turkey, along with English top-flight club Everton. Not to mention a very recent a claim that he was going to exit LCFC this summer. Although, there is now a possible U-turn concerning the former Genk man’s immediate career path:
