Transfer Rumor: Hull City Star Player Reportedly Gaining Interest From German Side RB Leipzig, As Well As Other European Clubs….
Former Hull City loanee Tyler Morton is reportedly gaining interest from German side RB Leipzig, as well as other European clubs, according to The Times’ Paul Joyce.
The 21-year-old midfielder spent last season at the MKM Stadium, making 41 appearances in black and amber as the Tigers finished 7th in the Championship, narrowly missing out on the play-offs
Wallasey-born Morton scored three times during his stay in East Yorkshire but appears to be out of new Liverpool manager Arne Slot’s plans, with the Reds reportedly willing to sell for a fee of £20 million.
Morton, who has also played at centre-back at times, previously had a spell at Blackburn Rovers where he made 46 appearances at Ewood Park, prompting Hull to bring him back to the second tier the following season.
Premier League sides Bournemouth, Southampton and Ipswich Town are all reportedly keen on the player but Leipzig, who finished 4th in the Bundesliga last year, are believed to be the frontrunners. Being in the Champions League only makes the offer more attractive for the young midfielder, who could well be mixing it up with Europe’s best next term.
Morton’s parent club have history with the German side, with attacker Fabio Carvalho having spent time on loan at the German outfit which may make a deal easier to reach.
The Liverpool academy graduate joined the club aged seven and went onto play nine times for the Reds, including twice in the Premier League during the 2021-22 season. Morton has also been capped for England at youth level, having made his debut for the under-21 side in November 2023. While the midfielder will have wanted to break in the first team at Anfield, a move to Leipzig could be the next best thing, with regular Champions League football potentially beckoning.
