PEORIA (25News Now) – The Peoria Rivermen are once again Southern Professional Hockey League Champions for the 2nd time in three years.

The Rivermen defeated Huntsville Havoc 5-1 Sunday night in the winner-take-all Game 3.

The team was once again led by their captain Alec Hagaman who had two goals, one in the 1st and an empty netter in the 3rd, and an assist. Defensemen Meirs Moore also added on two goals of his own, one in the 1st and an empty netter in the 3rd. Stalwart goalie Nick Latinovich had 21 saves of his own, proving once again why he was one of the best netminders in the league this year.

This is the Rivermen franchise’s 5th professional championship, as well as the first time in 24 years the team has won a title on home ice.
