ESPN Report: One Of The Top-Ranked Basketball Recruit Commit To Providence….

In one of second-year Providence men’s basketball coach Kim English’s biggest recruiting coups, he not only reeled in the top-ranked center recruit in the nation, as ranked by Rivals.com, but will have him a season earlier than planned.

Oswin Erhunmwunse, a consensus four-star recruit, committed to Providence in January as a member of the Class of 2025, but after reclassifying to graduate this spring he will start taking classes this summer and join English’s program in the fall.

“Oswin is an elite talent and we are excited that he will be joining our team this season,” English said in a statement. “Oswin has the ability to score the ball in a number of ways and is dominant on the defensive side of the ball. Most importantly, he has an infectious personality and he will be great fit for the culture of our program.”

Erhunmwunse grew up in Nigeria before moving to Connecticut and leading Putnam Science to two New England titles and the 2023 National Prep Championship (Putnam was runner-up this year)

Last season he had six games with 10 or more rebounds and five games with five or more blocked shots while shooting 74.8 percent from the field.

During the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp in Orlando, Fla. earlier this month, Erhunmwunse averaged 12.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks in nine games. He also shot 67.1 percent from the field.

In addition to being ranked No. 1 by Rivals (23rd overall), Erhunmwunse is the No. 2 center by ESPN.com (31st overall), and the No. 3 center by 247Sports (39th overall). He played his AAU ball with Boston-based BABC and Team New England.

Erhunmswunse was considered the second-best New England prospect in the Class of 2025 behind Brockton native A.J. Dybantsa, who now attends Utah Prep.
