Mrs. Ernestine Bryan-King turned 104 on the May 20, but family and friends gathered Saturday afternoon to mark the occasion.

There was birthday cake and many kind words all around, including proclamations from Governor Kay Ivey, Mayor Sandy Stimpson, City Councilman C.J. Small and State Rep. Napoleon Bracy.

Things change on Monday with a slight increase in rain chances due to an approaching front. Showers and a few thunderstorms may develop, including the possibility of an isolated stronger storm. The Storm Prediction Center has our area in a low-end severe weather risk due to potential gusty winds and hail. However, Memorial Day’s rain chances are not exceptionally high, with a few clouds and a rain chance around 30 to 40 percent.
