MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A grand jury will consider an attempted murder charge against a Wilmer woman accused of shooting her mother last month.

An attorney for Jessica Love waived the woman’s right to a preliminary hearing Thursday, meaning a grand jury will decide whether to indict her.

The shooting took place April 27 on Alexander Street. Police say they found a woman with a gunshot wound. They arrested Love, who was still at the house.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – With more traffic expected on the roads this Memorial Day weekend, the Alabama Department of Transportation says it’s taking steps to keep travel safe.

ALDOT says it won’t have any temporary lane closings on interstates beginning Friday afternoon and continuing through midnight on Monday.

ALDOT is asking drivers to put safety first during the holiday. And remember  Alabama has a hands-free law. It allows drivers over 18 to make or receive phone calls using hands free technology, such as Bluetooth.

If you must hold your device, you must pull over to a safe location and park.
