ATP stars like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Daniil Medvedev have touched down in Paris for the upcoming French Open. Joining them in the French capital are WTA starlets like Naomi Osaka, Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina.

Both Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have been dealing with injuries in advance of the French Open, but each man practiced at Roland-Garros on Wednesday afternoon.

There has been little doubt that Alcaraz would be good to go for Roland-Garros, so Wednesday’s practice only confirmed those ideas. The world No 3 took the court with France’s Luca Van Assche for training.

Alcaraz is bidding for his third slam title and first at the French Open. He lost to Novak Djokovic in last year’s semi-finals.

Sinner, especially, has been in doubt for the season’s second major. In fact, last week it was reported by Sports newspaper Gazzetta that the 22-year-old Italian would withdraw. Now, though, it looks like Sinner may be able to play in Paris.

A practice session is no confirmation, of course, of Sinner’s participation. Nonetheless, the reigning Australian Open champion’s training session with Kei Nishikori was a positive development as he continues to recover from a nagging hip injury. Sinner withdrew from the Mutua Madrid Open prior to the quarter-finals and he was unable to take part in his home Masters 1000 tournament in Rome.

The world No 2 crossed paths with Rafael Nadal on Court Philippe-Chatrier prior to practicing with Nishikori.
