With under 60 seconds staying in the game, the Terriers wound up 2-1 against a forceful Lafayette group, who had eight shots in the final quarter alone.

In a disastrous new development, Boston College (8-10, 3-3 Nationalist Association) apparently took their foot off the gas and the Panthers (12-6, 5-1 PL) promoted, sending the PL Elimination round matchup to extra time.
With three punishment corners — and a shot to show for each — in the initial four minutes of the extra time frame, Lafayette punched their pass to an opportunity at the PL Title game with the game-dominating objective in the fifth moment of the additional time. Rookie back Lena Thedrian’s most memorable profession objective tracked down the rear of the enclosure with a conclusive shot to end the Terriers’ season.
“[Lafayette] pulled the goalie toward the end, and they made an extraordinary play. We had a player that was checked at the end, where they got those corners,” lead trainer Sally Starr said.
Senior goalkeeper Kate Thomason had eight recoveries against the Panthers, who had 20 shots and 10 punishment corners in the game. The Terriers just had four shots of their own yet with 75% on objective contrary to the Panthers’ 60% on objective.
“[Offense is] where I felt that we played a portion of our best hockey of the year,” Starr said. “They were two extraordinary temporary objectives off of takes. [We were] sincerely going after hard … and just temporarily setting out hostile open doors.”
Senior midfielder Thalia Steenssens opened up the scoring for the coordinate in the fourth moment with a chip shot made experiencing significant change as she crossed the circle.
After the principal objective, the two offenses had valuable chances to have chances off yet couldn’t get past until the end of the primary half, and the Terriers headed into the half with a 1-0 lead. Only two minutes into the final part, the Panthers found the rear of the objective off a punishment corner, and, under 10 minutes after the fact, the Terriers retook the lead.
The 2-1 lead held until the last moment of guideline.
Regardless of the frustrating finish to the game — and the season — Starr “couldn’t be more pleased.”
“I really feel in numerous ways, we played one of our most impressive performances of the time, one of the most mind-blowing total rounds of the time upsettingly, protectively,” she said.
The group will graduate three players — senior back Brooklyn Sheep, senior midfielder and back Pili Alvarez and fifth-year midfielder and back Rachel Borzymowski — so they will hold most of the group, Starr said.
“Group culture is simply so perfect, and the affection that they have for one another,” she said. “The feeling that was displayed toward the finish of that game truly shows how much this group cherishes one another.”
This season wraps up Starr’s authentic 43rd season, yet the subsequent stage for the present is to “simply go on vacation.”
“This season most certainly had its promising and less promising times.
