Tennessee is home to many top recruiting locations. The Vols already have Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre and Baylor School wide receiver Joakim Dodson in the class of 2025. They’re far from done, and another big state name should be off the table by the end of March. Ensworth High School defensive lineman Ethan Utley lives in Nashville, Tennessee. At 6-4 and 265 pounds, he is ranked as the No. 160 prospect in the nation by 247Sports composite rankings. He just set the March 28 deadline and will commit to one of five schools: Michigan, Oklahoma, Syracuse, Tennessee and Texas. Following his announcement, the talented in-state prospect spoke with Volunteer State to explain why each school made his list. Texas: “Single and up, they go to the SEC.” Oklahoma: “Oklahoma is in the same boat as Texas going into the SEC, and the defensive coaches and fan base make them a strong contender.” Syracuse: “The winning culture that the team has acquired with Coach Brown and Coach E is outstanding and they are turning the program around.” Michigan: “The culture and development at Michigan is top notch and Coach Moore is one of the best coaches in the country.” Tennessee: “Probably the best comfort level and consistent recruiting every day is what sets them apart, and then being able to be coach Garner’s protégé on the line of scrimmage.” He later confirmed that he had no plans to visit any of those schools before announcing his decision on the 28th.
