HARRISON, N.J. (February 6, 2024) – New York Red Bulls II have signed Ugandan international midfielder Steven Sserwadda to MLS NEXT Pro contract, the club announced today.21-year-old Sserwadda enters his fourth season in the Red Bull organization. The midfielder has played 1,396 minutes in 18 matches since making his Red Bulls II debut on October 15, 2021 against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. During that time, Sserwadda scored two goals and provided one assist.The Ugandan international has not played a professional match since undergoing surgery in April 2023 to tear the medial ligament in his right knee.”We have full faith in Steven as a person and a player who can overcome his serious injury,” said sporting director Jochen Schneider. “We want to be with him as he gets back to the form we know he can achieve once he’s fully recovered.”The midfielder played in five matches for Uganda, starting three of them. Sserwadda made his senior debut on 25 March against Tajikistan.
