Breaking News: Leeds United About To Complete The Signing Of An Amazing Talent….

Joseph Paintsil was hotly pursued by Leeds United and Southampton in the summer, but interestingly, he is now heading to MLS with LA Galaxy.

Leeds’ upcoming transfer business in the summer is likely to be an unfortunate one for Daniel Farke given the way his squad has been built this season. Some of the signings would have been great if the club got rid of them, but that hasn’t happened – not that the German is complaining about a club currently in the top two.

Joseph Paints was Leeds’ main target in the late summer, making an £8.5m move for the Genk winger.  However, Leeds were not the only team in the promotional picture to be keen on signing Paintsil from the Belgian side, with Southampton having similar personal relationship issues with the player. The Ghana international has outplayed both sides during his time at Genk and produced solid figures in all competitions, including the Europa Conference League, with nine goals and five assists.

Now, Het Laatste Nieuws (via Sport Witness) claim the player will soon leave Genk but head across the Atlantic to MLS with LA Galaxy. The two clubs have reportedly agreed a deal worth $8.5m (£6.77m) and he will double his wages by joining the American giants. HLN claim that leaving Genk for the Championship did not suit the 26-year-old, who is giving up on Europe altogether.

It is hard to say that we dodged a bullet because he is a very good player, but now we can see that his main problem was the salary offered in the Championship .The fact that he didn’t want to join any Championship club with a strong chance of promotion this season, but is happy to go to MLS (where promotion is unlikely) tells you all you need to know. It’s a financial decision, which is good but strange because Leeds or Southampton could give him a real chance in the Premier League.
