Former South Carolina football quarterback Rod Wilson made his third Super Bowl appearance as coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Wilson is a defensive assistant for head coach Andy Reidand#039;
s and has been with KC to all three recent Lombardi Trophy appearances.During his time as a South Carolina Gamecock, Wilson played all over the field before taking over as a hybrid linebacker for head coach Lou Holtz. The former linebacker/linebacker/defensive back excelled on defense, serving as a team leader in 2004 and captain as a senior. He was on the All-SEC team that season.Wilson was selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2005 NFL Draft and played six years in the league,
including being part of the Chicago Bears team that lost to Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in Super .During his tihis playing days were over, he started training. Wilson played in both the college game (including one season at his alma mater) and the professional ranks. About half of his coaching career came with the Chiefs. In five seasons, he won three Super Bowl championships, two of which came against the San Francisco 49ers.
Joining Wilson with the Chiefs is former Gamecock Shi Smith, who signed a futures contract with the organization three weeks ago.
