The Browns allowed Bill Callahan to join his son Brian in Tennessee on a $3 million contract. Given Bill Callahan’s status as one of the best O-line coaches in the NFL, this left a void on Cleveland’s staff. The group fills it with one of the candidates it interviewed for the OC position. ‘s former employees who followed Shane Waldron to Seattle. The Seahawks promoted Dickerson to O-line coach in 2022. After removing Pete Carroll as longtime HC, the Seahawks allowed their assistants to talk to other teams. In addition, the Browns will add Roy Istvan as an assistant coach, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reported. Istvan most recently served as an Eagles assistant coach under respected employee Jeff Stoutland; István was in that role for five seasons…Recently retired safety Jahleel Addae is returning to the NFL as a coach.
The former Chargers starter will join the Bills as their cornerbacks coach, ESPN.com’s Pete Thamel tweeted. Addae, 34, was on the staff of the Miami Hurricanes. Addae started 63 games in his nine-year career, most of which came as a Charger.Bills not returning DB coach John Butler, Buffalo News Jay Skurski tweets. Butler has been Buffalo’s DBs coach since 2018. Bills moved Bobby Babich to DC, some changes are coming.
Another is the hiring of Matt Edwards as an assistant D-line coach. The team recently named Marcus West the D-line coach, replacing the departed Eric Washington. Edwards previously served as a defensive assistant with the Raiders, focusing on the team’s passing game.Shane Day returns to Los Angeles. After two seasons as Chargers QBs coach under Joe Lombardi, Day was a senior offensive assistant with the Texans. Jim Harbaugh is bringing back Day as the Bolts’ QB coach, NFL.com’s Mike Garafolo tweeted.
Justin Herbert became an AFC Pro Bowl starter under Day in 2021, and Garafolo adds that the star QB enjoyed working with Day. However, Brandon Staley fired both Lombardi and Tagon after the Bolts’ wild-card collapse in Jacksonville. The veteran assistant had two stints with the 49ers, although neither was during Harbaugh’s run in San Francisco. According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Chargers will also hire Sanjay Lal as their wide receivers coach. Lal has coached wide receivers in the NFL since the late 2000s. One of those tenures — 2015-16 with the Bills — overlapped with new Bolts OC Greg Roman. Lal was most recently the Seahawks’ running game coordinator and WR coach..
