Leeds pulled to within two points of the top two after defeating Norwich City 1-0 on Wednesday night, marking their first league victory in four games this season.

Leeds is now in fourth position with 57 points, behind Southampton (58), Ipswich Town (59), and Leicester City (66), who are just a little bit ahead. Leeds, however, have now played one extra game.

As recently as last month, Daniel Farke’s team was as much as 17 points behind Leicester, but a decline in performance has allowed them to reduce the gap. Next month, the two teams square off at Elland Road.

Darragh MacAnthony, the chairman of Peterborough United, offered his forecast on the race for automatic promotion in the most recent edition of his podcast, “Hard Truth Podcast.”

He thinks Southampton and Leeds will catch Leicester to finish in the top two, with the former winning the title, unless they bolster their roster this month.

“To take it a step further, I believe Southampton will win the league. I believe Southampton has a stronger squad than Leicester. The owners of Leicester must support their manager. They appear to be having trouble replacing players who have returned to Chelsea due to injuries.

They don’t have the same strength in their team, thus I don’t think they are as dynamic as Southampton. Leeds won’t trail Southampton in my prediction of the league title. Having a few bob on Jack Taylor, I hope Ipswich stays there.
