Buffalo bills key man sustain a life or death injury….
Tuesday afternoon, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane held a generous media meeting during which he discussed a wide range of topics related to the franchise, the roster and the remaining offseason work.
During an over-an-hour-long chat, Beane provided the first glimpse of what was to come as the Bills get ready for the season. Only a handful of the highlights from Beane’s lengthy interview are discussed below; the entire video is uploaded as well.
Speaking about the team’s massive class of future unrestricted free agents (21 players), Brandon Beane discussed structuring the roster for the following season. Beane talked about the need to select well and the team’s limited salary cap room for the upcoming season, as was to be expected. Beane stated that the league has been experiencing a wage cap shortfall since the 2020 COVID-19 season, with teams still approximately $16 million below where growth would have placed them prior to COVID — a 6% to 7% growth rate season over season.
Beane stated, “We don’t have the same money we had going into 2019, 2020.” But we’ll find a way around it. We don’t intend to merely stop competing and take a year off.
Brandon Beane did make the observation that it is anticipated that certain players will once more be worked out on one-year contracts.Beane also discussed the possibility of playing two home playoff games this year, as well as advancing past the Divisional Round and the belief that the AFC’s competition will only get more intense.
Talks also focused on the 2023 season’s performance by edge rusher Von Miller and wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who serves as the team’s top wide out.
