A 6’1 and 172-pound wide receiver, Xavier Worthy was instrumental in leading the Texas Longhorns to their first-ever College football playoff trip in 2023. In a 31-37 loss to the Washington Huskies, he caught two receptions for 45 yards. Worthy announced on social media that he would forgo his senior year and enter the NFL draft shortly after the Longhorns’ Sugar Bowl loss.

With the Longhorns, he amassed 2,755 receiving yards and 26 touchdowns on 197 grabs over three seasons. This past season, Worthy participated in all 14 games for the Longhorns; however, he was forced to sit out the second half ofthe Big 12 Championship game because of an ankle injury he received after an unorthodox tackle. Worthy caught three or  more passes for more than thirty yards in twelve games in 2023, and he had four or more grabs for more than fifty yards in nine games.

The coaching staff at Cleveland Browns saw offensive lineman Drew Forbes, who was selected by the team in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Southwest Missouri State, as a player who could compete for a starting spot right away and had made 35 straight starts.

It is evident from a quick look around the league that many offensive linemen are selected in the latter rounds of the draft. Before being traded to Cleveland in 2019, RG Wyatt Teller was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round, just with the Browns. OT d Jones was chosen in the fourth round of the previous draft.

Forbes was a standout for Southwest Missouri and was considered by several teams for the draft. Despite not getting an invitation to the Combine, he had a great Pro Day. Of all the offensive linemen at the Combine, his 40 time of 4.87 would have been the best reading. In most areas, he would have finished near the top with different drills.
