Mike Matthews Earns Polynesian Bowl

Parkview High School wide receiver Mike Matthews has had a busy past few weeks. He finished an outstanding season in net, signed his National Letter of Intent with the Tennessee Volunteers, performed well at the Under Armor All-American game, made a stop in Miami for the Volsand#039; beat Iowa and now won the Polynesian Bowl Offensive MVP. Matthews caught two passes for 44 yards, including a touchdown that sent social media into a frenzy. This is the second consecutive season that a Tennessee signee has won the Polynesian Bowl Offensive MVP; Class of 2023 quarterback Nico Iamaleava had 249 yards and a touchdown a game last year. Tennessee sent five players to the Polynesian Bowl this season: Matthews, five-star wide receiver Jordan Ross, four-star linebacker Jake Merklinger, four-star offensive lineman Bennett Warren and four-star inside linebacker Edwin Spillman. They spent the week in Honolulu, Hawaii, making a lot of plays on the gridiron and getting a lot of people excited for the 2024 signing hour.
