Former offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, one of the nation’s most highly regarded assistant coaches, will remain on staff as offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.
In addition, former quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis, who happens to be Urban Meyer’s son-in-law, will be assigned to an as-yet-unspecified role on the staff. It previously appeared that Dennis would lose his job as a result of O’Brien’s hiring, but the school seems determined to find a place for him.Keeping Hartline with O’Brien was a big deal for coach Ryan Day. Hartline was promoted to offensive coordinator before the 2023 season and is considered an excellent coach and recruiter.The move to bring in O’Brien is still a significant change after a couple of disappointing seasons at Ohio State.
