While Proctor likely would have been the starter at Alabama, even with Kalen DeBoer’s coaching and game-changing style, the situation probably wouldn’t have been as good as it was at Iowa, which was probably the deciding factor for him. decision to transfer to the Hawkeyes.. Proctor actually committed to Iowa his junior year of high school; However, after a dominant senior season, Alabama and others made a big bet on the 5-star prospect and subsequently decommitted. Since Nick Saban announced his retirement on January 12th, 11 players have already announced they will continue, in addition to the 20 players who have already announced their departures (leaving some to wonder if souliame players already had the idea).Some of those players include 5-stars Caleb Downs, Isaiah Bond, Jn Sayin and Kadyn Proctor. In addition, 14 other four-star players have announced they are leaving the Crimson Tide. For some perspective, there are dozens of P5 teams that don’t have a total of 14 four-star players…
Alabama is expected to rebound somewhat, especially if and when many of Washington’s better players join the team. One thing to note is that Washington was very high last year, limiting the number of elite players on the rest of the roster who can transfer and meet Alabama’s standard. As for elite talent from other teams hoping to move, most players from other teams will not be able to move until the next transfer window opens, as the initial transfer window closed on January 2nd.Unless DeBoer can pull off a miracle, it’s unlikely he’ll reload the same amount of talent that has already left (and will likely continue to leave)..
