Basketball is fast making its way into the Iron Bowl canon, and last year’s Crimson Tide victory—the team’s eighth straight win—put women’s head coach Kristy Curry’s name in the canon. “It’s just incredible to have nine straight wins [against Auburn], a school record,” Curry remarked. “Very wonderful, and I’m really happy for our children.” Curry has a record of 12-10 against the Tigers since entering the Alabama program in 2013, and despite a few early setbacks, he has emerged as the clear winner of the rivalry in recent years. For their final dual meet of the season, the men’s and women’s swim and dive teams will host the Tigers. Usually held at the end of the season, the Iron Bowl in the Pool is followed only by another Tiger game at the Auburn Invite. The No. 14 men’s team lost to their No. 9 opponents last year, while the No. 6 women’s team defeated the No. 19 Tigers. Relays were won by both teams, and two individual victories were also claimed by then-sophomore Charlie Hawke, who swam in the relay victory.
