Leicester wants to sign Callum Doyle, a quality player for Manchester City, permanently.

Since the beginning of the season, Doyle has been on loan from the current Championship leaders, and the 20-year-old has had a difficult time at King Power Stadium.Doye got off to a great start to the season, starting the Foxex’s first eight Championship games. However, Doyle suffered an injury in that eighth game that would keep him out of action for more than three months. On New Year’s Day, Doyle played for ten minutes against Huddersfield Town on his comeback to the game. Then, in the FA Cup, he played the whole ninety minutes against Millwall.Although Doyle hasn’t been seen much by Leicester supporters thus far, the team is reportedly still hoping to recruit Doyle permanently from City this summer.According to a report published today by The Athletic, Leicester now has four loanees, two of which they hope to make permanent. One of those is Doyle, who re-signed with the Etihad last year; the other is Abdul Fatawu. Regarding the other two, Cesare Casadei and Yunus Akgun, the jury is yet out.Doyle, who has had loan stints with Sunderland and Coventry City in the past, is only at the King Power for the entire season; Leicester does not have the option to purchase the young player. Thus, negotiations will have to take place, and it’s unclear how much the City will ask for.Given that Enzo Maresca is Leicester’s head coach, it should come as no surprise that the team is eager to sign Doyle on a permanent basis.Though it would be difficult for Doyle given the quality of Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol as left-wing options, there is always a chance that Pep Guardiola will feel the need to bring the “classy Rolls Royce of a player” into the starting lineup. For the time being, though, it appears as though City will profit handsomely from the acquisition of another academy product.
