The first World Grand Prix is won by Ronnie O’Sullivan but the Ali Carter rivalry continues.

At the World Grand Prix, Ronnie O’Sullivan continued his winning ways. Ali Carter had earlier escalated their intense verbal sparring by claiming that the world number one is not “that well mentally.” 48 hours after defeating Carter in the Masters final on Sunday, where the two players continued their long-running rivalry, O’Sullivan was back in action.

The World Snooker Tour is investigating the world number one after he called Carter “a f****** nightmare” and stated he needed to “see a counsellor” after defeating his strong opponent, Pang Junxu, 4-2 in Leicester.

The 48-year-old was retaliating against Carter, who had said that during their match at Alexandra Palace—which O’Sullivan won 10–7—the seven-time world champion had “snotted on the floor.”

Carter went back on the attack prior to his 4-3 victory over Wu Yize, telling ITV4 that “Ronnie is entitled to his opinion.” Both men are competing this week at the Morningside Arena. I simply stated the facts and how things were. That is all there is to it.

When asked if O’Sullivan’s remarks had angered him, he responded, “Angry about what? What he says doesn’t matter to me. Depending on the day, he says different things. I doubt he even knows what will be revealed by his When O’Sullivan told many media, “He needs to sort his f******,” it created a commotion.
