Ronnie O’Sullivan ‘felt wronged’ by Ali Carter as theory raised after astonishing rant.

The most recent development in their intense rivalry is that a former snooker player turned pundit has stated that Ali Carter “felt wronged” Ronnie O’Sullivan. Since their match in the Masters final on Sunday, which the “Rocket” won 10-7 after rallying from a 6-3 deficit, the two have been embroiled in a string of heated arguments.

However, their verbal sparring has since overshadowed the Alexandra Palace game. Carter first accused O’Sullivan of “snotting” on the floor in an effort to act in an unsportsmanlike manner.

Carter also attacked “some morons” in the Ally Pally audience, claiming that supporters of his opponent were trying to dissuade him. In reaction, the world No. 1 was vehement, demanding in his news conference after the match that his opponent “sort his f****** life out.”

And now a new chapter has been added to the tale by Alan McManus, who was on duty during the tournament. The Scot has put up the hypothesis that the two players’ disagreement began when they were still in the sport’s juvenile ranks.

“Well tensions were running high, it’s a very hot atmosphere in Ally Pally,” he stated to ITV4. Ken [Doherty] and I were clearly present. Since the two have a history together and have grown up together, tensions can easily escalate.

“Ronnie felt a little taken advantage of on both sides of what he believed to have been a number of years ago when he took Ali under his wing. However, it highlights the significance and the anxiety present during these major occasions.”

There have been other disputes between the two before. Both in the 2008 and 2012 World Championship finals, O’Sullivan prevailed over his countryman; however, it was their 2018 second-round match, which the “Captain” won, that garnered negative media attention.

When making his own remarks, analyst Doherty made reference to that turning point in history, saying, “It starts with the shoulder barge at the World Championship and goes from there.”

It’s bad karma; I believe he was also responding to what Ali had stated during the news conference. World Snooker will undoubtedly examine it, and we’ll see what transpires. Not particularly exciting headlines.”
