Masters 2024: Ali Carter calls out’some morons’ in the Alexandra Palace crowd, but Ronnie O’Sullivan prevails.

During his 10-7 loss to Ronnie O’Sullivan in Sunday’s Masters final, Ali Carter berated “some morons” in the Alexandra Palace audience in London. Carter was ahead 7–6 at the beginning of the 14th frame when the referee warned spectators not to yell at the players as they were about to make a stroke.

Carter remarked, “It’s hard enough to beat him.” “But when you’ve got people shouting when you are on your shot and saying stupid things at important times because half of them haven’t got enough brains, it’s ridiculous.” “There are some morons in the crowd,” said the 44-year-old, who was attempting to win the Masters for the first time. Really, that is simply astounding. O’Sullivan rallies to win his ninth championship, defeating Carter 10–7

29 years after his first-ever triumph in the event, O’Sullivan overcame a 6-3 deficit to defeat Ali Carter 10-7 and won a record-tying eighth Masters title at Alexandra Palace. This made him the oldest winner in the history of the competition. A month after winning the UK Championship for an eighth time, the 48-year-old needed seven of his final eight frames to claim victory and the £250,000 top prize. O’Sullivan now has the chance to win all three of snooker’s Triple Crown tournaments in the same season.
