Kalen DeBoer tells Alabama players from the field “Just give me a chance.

As soon as Kalen DeBoer got off the plane at Tuscaloosa National Airport Friday night, he jumped into a car driven by Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne and went to meet the players. The Crimson Tide’s new football coach needed to start right away, as keeping the core of the roster together will be key to his future success despite the 30-day transfer window triggered by Nick Saban’s retirement.

When he arrived at the Mal Moore Sports Complex, he offered his pitch to the assembled team.”Just give me a chance,” DeBoer told the players. “Give me a chance to show you a few things. I’ll listen to you. I’ll meet you where you are now and I’ll try to show them with the evidence of what happened, whether it’s in Washington or, we haven’t gotten very far, but how it looks.”DeBoer emphasized that he plans to bring in a strong staff that can help the players in their development. It started with his Washington general manager, Courtney Morgan, flying with him to Alabama and already at work calling the parents of the players on the roster. He admitted that they were committed to playing Saban, a legendary figure who no longer leads the show. Regardless, he talked to the players about the experience he tried to give them at Alabama.

“How nice to be out there on the football field,” DeBoer said. “For what we do schematically. For the people that are around you when you show up in the weight room for that workout, and for the people that are around you from a training standpoint and Show them that, their development and what we us. to have with future guys in the NFL- done before and how we make it special.”.
