How Courtney Morgan is already helping Kalen DeBoer at Alabama.

When Kalen DeBoer got off the plane at Tuscaloosa National Airport on Friday, he was accompanied by a key member of his Washington staff. Courtney Morgan, who served as the Huskies general manager for the past two seasons, followed his boss to Alabama.When he was introduced as Alabama’s new head coach to replace the retired Nick Saban, DeBoer appeared to confirm that Morgan would take the role at UA. He said Morgan had already gone to work.

“He’s so involved with everybody in the recruiting world,” DeBoer said. “The players, the staff. He knows a lot about that roster, and that roster has the parents of the players, that he has their numbers and he’s talking to them right now, just trying, probably relating to what we’re trying to accomplish. and keep people grounded and don’t get too crazy.”Morgan was one of DeBoor’s first hires in Washington ahead of the 2022 season. He previously held the same executive management position at Michigan in 2021, one year apart from DeBoer, who also had Morgan as the general manager at Fresno State and San Jose State.He also served as director of player development at UCLA, where he founded a company to connect athletes and other public figures with business opportunities. He played offensive line at Michigan from 1999-2003.DeBoer and Morgan must work immediately to try to keep Alabama’s roster together.
