A 71-year-old woman died from injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Township.

A 71-year-old woman died from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash on Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Township Saturday afternoon, according to Hatfield Police.

 

At 12:33 p.m., police responded to a crash at 2420 Bethlehem Pike, near Sequoia Supply. The collision involved three vehicles, with two drivers suffering serious injuries. Montgomery County radio traffic reported that the drivers were trapped in their vehicles, requiring rescue and extrication.

 

The investigation revealed that a blue Hyundai Accent, driven by a 40-year-old man, collided with a maroon Hyundai Tucson, driven by the deceased woman. One driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the other faced immediate life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were transported to Grand View Hospital Trauma Center, where the woman later succumbed to her injuries.

 

The names of the individuals involved have not been released, and police did not provide details about the second driver’s condition. The crash caused Bethlehem Pike/Route 309 to close for seven hours.

 

Assistance at the scene was provided by multiple fire departments and police agencies, including Hatfield Fire Co., Colmar Volunteer Fire Co., and Montgomery Township, among others.
